Ventilation Systems
Super E® homes use “whole house” mechanical ventilation. Each room in the house is provided with fresh, healthy air, enhancing indoor air quality. Whole house ventilation also means there is an even distribution of fresh air and no cold spots in the house. Mechanical ventilation also controls humidity levels, making the house more comfortable and discouraging the growth of mould and house mites that can cause an allergic reaction.
All Super E® homes are equipped with a heat recovery ventilator (HRV). These ingenious devices provide continuous fresh air to every room in the house, while exhausting stale air to the outside.
About Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs)
An HRV saves energy by using the heat from the outgoing air to warm the incoming fresh air.
An HRV provides many benefits for homeowners:
- fresh air is provided to every room in the house – even when the windows are closed! This allows you to close windows to keep out exterior noise and still have fresh air moving into every room.
- an HRV controls humidity levels. Low humidity causes throat irritation. High humidity encourages the growth of mould and house mites, which can cause health problems.
- air filters can be added to the HRV to ensure incoming air is clean, healthy and fresh.
Because air is always circulating throughout the house, there is balanced heat throughout with no cold spots that are often found in other homes.
