The Super E Home

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is another important element of every Super E® house. Three factors help you to get the best indoor air quality available in housing today:

Healthy material choices:

Choosing materials that have little or no chemical emissions helps produce good indoor air quality. Canadian Super E® members are knowledgeable about healthy materials and how to acquire them for their Super E® houses.

Canada is pro-active in setting guidelines for eco-friendly materials through Environment Canada's Environmental Choice Program. Products that meet the strict Environmental Choice criteria can be labeled with the EcoLogo®. Its use is encouraged in Super E® houses.

Airtightness:

Super E® homeowners live with a continuous flow of fresh air and controlled humidity because the airtight building practices provide an easily controlled indoor environment.

Ventilation:

You get healthy, filtered fresh air in each room as the Super E® mechanical ventilation system exhausts stale air from your home. Continuous ventilation also controls humidity.

If the humidity in the house is too low, it can cause respiratory irritation; if it is too high, unhealthy mould and mildew can grow.
